The Pet of the Week Program

Of the many Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS) programs designed to find permanent, loving homes for adoptable pets, the Pet of the Week/Month advertisements in the Ashland Daily Tidings, Medford Mail Tribune, Jacksonville Review & Sentinel, Rogue River Press, The Applegator, Medford Sneak Preview, seven other local newspapers, and this website and are among the most effective.
The ads are incredibly effective exposure for "bringing the animals to the public." Over 500 shelter animals annually are exposed to the thousands of readers in Ashland, Phoenix, Talent, Medford, Central Point, Jacksonville, and beyond, with very happy results—nearly all of the pets pictured are adopted soon after their photos appear. Many other Shelter animals find homes when people visit the Shelter to see those featured, but choose others because they have already been adopted.
