The Jackson County Animal Shelter is full of wonderful companions that are waiting for a new home. If you’re looking for a new pet, or know someone who is, please visit us. Adoption Fees

All animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, and current on vaccinations. The adoption fee includes a free wellness check from your veterinarian for both dogs and cats, and all dog adoptions include one free in-home professional training session (see below for details).


  • Adoption fee for dogs older than 6 months: $120.00
  • Adoption fee for puppies under 6 months: $150.00
  • Featured Dogs: $75.00 (FOTAS pays $45 towards the adoption fee on chosen dogs)

  • Adult (older than 1 year): $50.00
  • Kittens (under a year): $90.00
  • 2-fur-1 adoptions for both cats and kittens (adopt one and FOTAS will pay for the second adoption fee)
  • Fabulous Featured Felines  $25.00 (FOTAS pays $25 towards the adoption fee on chosen cats)

Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1990 to support the programs of the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Our vision is for all adoptable animals at the Jackson Country Animal Shelter to find a loving home. Our mission is to recruit and train volunteers who will save lives by increasing pet adoptions at the Jackson Country Animal Shelter, improve the quality of life for the Shelter’s animals, promote spay and neuter, and facilitate outreach and educational activities about the humane treatment of companion animals throughout Jackson County. Our values are: Service, Compassion and Generosity.
