Meet Mickey!

AGE:  Hi!  I’m Mickey … I’m a 6-year-old Pittie who loves to play!

PERSONALITY:  I can be a little shy at first, but once I get to know ya, I’m friendly, well-mannered and outgoing.

HIGHLIGHTS:  OK, I admit it … I like to play a little rough with kitties, so I’m probably better off in a house with no cats.  I play well with other dogs, but if there are other dogs in the house, I really want to meet ‘em first!  I’m currently living in a foster home, so please call the Shelter to arrange a time to meet.

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Mickey’s adoption fee is only $60 and includes a one-hour, in-home training, plus a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Mikey is neutered.

Meet Gypsy!

AGE:  Lovely Gypsy is a 10-year-young lady who loves human companionship, making sure her people are always close by.

PERSONALITY:  You could pet and scratch Gypsy all day, but being picked up isn’t her favorite thing. She’s queen of the jungle, so will not do well in a home with other cats.  If you’re looking for an “only-cat,” Gypsy’s the girl for you!

HIGHLIGHTS:  This sweet girl is charming the Shelter volunteers, so we know that the right adopter will know how to give her the chance to blossom in a home where she is safe and loved.

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Gypsy’s adoption fee is only $45, and includes a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Gypsy is spayed.

Meet Leia!

AGE:  Leia is a beautiful 2-year-old Husky mix with one blue eye, one golden brown eye, perky ears and a great personality.

PERSONALITY:  She is a silly and playful pup, who may overpower small children with her enthusiasm.  She loves romping with other dogs, splashing in the water and fetching toys.  She needs daily activities, additional training and a well-fenced yard, because she can escape easily.

HIGHLIGHTS:  Once you tire her out, she loves to snuggle.  Being an experienced Husky owner will be helpful.

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Leia’s adoption fee is $105, and includes a free 1-hour in-home training and a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Leia is spayed.

Meet Theo!

AGE:  I’m Theo, a spunky and outgoing 10-year-old boy. While at the shelter I have done well with other dogs in playgroups.

PERSONALITY:  I’m an affectionate dog who loves to be brushed and petted. I’m treat motivated and know some commands, but I can be grabby with treats because I get so excited! Can you blame me?

HIGHLIGHTS:  I’m past all the crazy puppy phase, but still have energy to play. I also know when it’s time to settle down, and after a bit of exercise, I’m happy to lounge at your feet for a little nap. Like most dogs my age, I have some tartar on my teeth and would benefit from having them cleaned by a vet. It doesn’t hinder my ability to eat and isn’t critical at this time, but is something that would help me feel my best.

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Theo’s adoption fee was donated by the Friends of the Animal Shelter Senior Dogs fund, and includes an in-home 1-hour training and free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Theo is neutered.

AGE:   Slate is a handsome and affectionate 2-year-old, 65 lb. mixed breed.

PERSONALITY:  He is treat motivated (aren’t we all) which has made it easy to teach him basic skills, including walking nicely on a leash.  He is house-trained and rides well in the car.

HIGHLIGHTS:  Slate is a loving dog who becomes deeply attached to his person, which would make him a good guard dog.  He loves to cuddle and snuggle, but should not be in a home with cats or small children.  He is social with other dogs and plays well, and needs more interaction “about town,” to be a good “take everywhere” companion.

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Slate’s adoption fee is $105, and includes a free 1-hour, in-home training and a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Slate is neutered.
