Category: Pet of The Week

Meet Bella!

AGE: Bella is an appealing 2-year-old brown Tabby and Tortie girl. She has been at the shelter for three months and is SO ready to find her real home.

PERSONALITY: Bella was pretty timid at first because everything was new and she was scared. Now though, after discovering that the people she sees every day really care about her, she has become more social and open to petting.

HIGHLIGHTS: She enjoyed having a little girl read to her at the shelter’s “Read to a Kitty” day, and she LOVES playing with wand toys! Bella likes to be approached slowly, and so far she’s not much of a lap cat, but that could change with cat-savvy people in a new home where she is given lots of time to adjust. If you have a loving quiet home for beautiful Bella, she might just blossom into your new best friend.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: Bella’s adoption fee is only $50, and includes a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Bella is spayed.

Meet Sebastian!

AGE: Sebastian is a 3-year-old plush handsome black kitty who was surrendered after his owner died.

PERSONALITY: He was originally bewildered in his new surroundings, but now is coming forward for affection and regaining confidence. He steps out of his kennel when all is quiet, and loves to be petted around the neck and chin. It is heartening to see how he is beginning to trust again.

HIGHLIGHTS: Sebastian has lived indoors only and, undoubtedly, his sweet nature will blossom once he is nestled in a quiet home with patient owners. Probably a home without children or dogs would suit him best.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: Sebastian’s adoption fee is only $50, and includes a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Sebastian is neutered.

Meet Ripley!

AGE: Ripley is a handsome, 11-year-old Bernese Mountain mix who was surrendered because his owners could not take him with them when they moved.

PERSONALITY: Ripley is a friendly, out-going boy who enjoys both play and cuddle time.  He has lived with other dogs and cats, but is possessive about his food and treats.

HIGHLIGHTS: Ripley takes treats gently, is house-trained and well-mannered … he would love to go home with you live out the rest of his golden years.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: Ripley’s adoption fee is only $75, and includes a free one-hour in-home training and a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Ripley is neutered.

Meet Ella!

AGE: Ella is a loveable 12-year-old tabby whose family moved out of the country and could not take her with them.

PERSONALITY: She was once a mighty huntress, but now, in her retirement years, prefers to be indoors-only, in a calm home where she can spend her days enjoying the loving attention of her people, telling you her story, and snoozing on a sunny bench or in her soft bed.

HIGHLIGHTS: Ella is a gentle kitty who got along with cats and dogs in her former home. Her adoption fee has already been paid by a generous donor, so if you have the right home for big-hearted Ella, she is ready to be your new best friend.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: Ella’s adoption fee has been pre-paid and includes a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Ella is spayed.

Meet Goldie!

AGE: Goldie is looking for a retirement home!  She is a mellow and sweet 10-year-old Boxer girl who enjoys life and “her people.”

PERSONALITY: Goldie’s favorite activities are mellow walks and lounging around the house (hopefully, one level). She is excellent at napping, and showing you appreciation for loving her. She is well-mannered, a little hard of hearing, and heart-warming.

HIGHLIGHTS: Goldie gets along with other calm dogs, but can be a bit protective of “her people,” so a low-traffic home would be best.  The Friends of the Animal Shelter Senior Fund paid for the removal of some benign fatty tumors, and a generous donor has pre-paid her adoption fee.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: There is no adoption fee for Goldie, and you still get a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Goldie is spayed.
