Meet Heidi!

AGE:  I’m Heidi, a 2-year-old girl Black Mouth Cur who is a little bit shy, a little bit silly and a whole lot of cute!

PERSONALITY:  I would prefer a quiet, rural home with a well-fenced yard and owners who are dog-savvy, since I react to other dogs when I’m on leash. I bond closely with my family and am a very smart, loyal companion to have. My previous owner says I am goofy, active, and I need daily playtime.

HIGHLIGHTS:  I enjoy playing with toys, playing fetch and learning new tricks for treats. I have done well with some children but not others, so I will need a home with older kids or an adult only home. I am housetrained and already know many commands. I need some work on my manners, since I get a little excited and take treats roughly or jump up on people for attention. Once I get my sillies out, I’m happy to stretch out at your feet or curl up next to you on the couch and take a nap.

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Heidi’s adoption fee is $120 and includes a free in-home one-hour training and a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Heidi is spayed.

Meet Roxy!

AGE:  Sweet Roxy is 14, and a FFF (Fabulous Featured Feline), which means her adoption fee is only $25.

PERSONALITY:  This lovely brown tabby with a white muzzle is a grand dame who was surrendered when her owner became too ill to care for her. Roxy is thin, and needs brushing, but is quietly appreciative of any loving attention that comes her way.

HIGHLIGHTS:  She’s an appealing kitty who will be happiest in a calm, quiet home where she’s allowed to peacefully snooze the afternoon away, and where she is given kind, gentle retirement-kitty care.

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Roxy’s adoption fee is only $25 and includes a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Roxy is spayed.

Meet Bogart!

AGE:  I’m Bogart, an athletic, active 1.5 year-old-guy looking to be your next workout buddy.

PERSONALITY:  I already know a few things like sit, come, and lay down. I also take treats gently and am very food motivated (who isn’t?). I am eager to have you show me how to be a good canine citizen, and I would love to brush up on some basic obedience.

HIGHLIGHTS:  People might worry about my blocky head, so make sure to provide me with lots of training to help me be an advocate for the breed! I have done well in play groups with most dogs. I would make a great jogging buddy, rain or shine, and then we can just hang out and watch Netflix.

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Bogart’s adoption fee is only $75 and includes a free one-hour in-home training and a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Bogart is neutered.

Meet Mork!

AGE:  Hi, my name is Mork, and I’m 9-weeks old.  My sister, Mindy, was adopted, and I’m hoping to find my new home soon, too!

PERSONALITY:  If you are looking for an adorable, playful little tabby boy to love for a lifetime, pick me – I’m out-a-this world fun!

HIGHLIGHTS:  I’d sure like to have a kitty companion, and the Shelter has a wonderful 2-Fur-1 adoption program (funded by Friends of the Animal Shelter), where you can adopt two kitties for one low adoption fee. Such a deal. Nanu nanu!

AVAILABLE:  At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.

COST: Mork’s adoption fee is only $90 and includes a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office.  Mork is neutered.

Meet Chunk!

AGE:  Chunk is a handsome 3-year-old Australian Cattle Dog, Blue Heeler and Pit Bull Terrier mix who is a smart, active and silly fella!

PERSONALITY:  Lively and intelligent, he plays best with other active and social dogs, but can overwhelm quieter ones.  Chunk craves daily mental and physical stimulation, so lots of exercise will keep him healthy and happy.
