Agility Play Time

Teaching agility to a Shelter dog is a rewarding experience for both the volunteers and the pooches. Agility teaches a dog obedience, gives them exercise, socializes them to humans and other pups, builds confidence, and is just plain fun. Classes are taught every Friday from 11:00 am to Noon at the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Our classes are led by Dianne Quarg, an experienced dog trainer.

If you would like to register for this exciting opportunity to help ease the boredom of shelter life for some homeless dogs and to help them become more adoptable, call us at 541.774.6646 or E-mail FOTAS.

Many thanks to:

  • Dianne Quarg for teaching agility at the Shelter and her guidance in the construction of the course.
  • Officer Randy Giron and Officer Andy Lane for the agility yard fencing.
  • Tom Peil of Tom's Handyman Service (Ashland) for building the gate to the agility area.
  • Brad Roupp, Andy Lane, Tori Stephens and Dianne Quarg for building agility course elements.
  • Ashland High School student Jamie Roupp and her basketball team for raising over $600 through a free-throw shoot-a-thon. The money raised was used to purchase collapsible chutes and other equipment.
  • And, to all who donated!
