If you would like to be considered for becoming a FOTAS and Jackson County Animal Shelter Foster Family, you will need to submit an application.  Download the PDF file by clicking here.  Please save the file to your hard drive, and:

  • Scan the filled-out application and send via email (preferred method) to Diane Novak, Foster Coordinator: di.sped.head@gmail.com  OR
  • Submit the filled-out application via postal mail, address is on the application, or
  • Submit the filled-out copy in person to the Jackson County Animal Shelter

Once we receive your application, you will receive a call and/or email from Diane to review your applications and schedule a home inspection.

Please remember that all dogs in your household must have a current rabies vaccination and Jackson County animal license.  For more information about licensing your dog, please visit the Jackson County Animal Services website.

The Shelter offers monthly Low-Cost Vaccinations, including rabies, and you can license your dog the same day.  Licenses are available from any veterinarian office in Jackson County as well.

Saturday & Sunday, Noon – 4:00 PM

Low-Cost Vaccinations

3rd Saturday of the month
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
$10 per Vaccination – CASH ONLY

  • DOGS: Rabies & Parvo/Distemper/Adeno/Parainfluenza/Lepto
  • CATS: Rabies & Distemper/Rhino/Calici

Nail clipping also available during Vaccination hours – $5 – CASH ONLY

MISSION STATEMENT

Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1990 to support the programs of the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Our vision is for all adoptable animals at the Jackson Country Animal Shelter to find a loving home. Our mission is to recruit and train volunteers who will save lives by increasing pet adoptions at the Jackson Country Animal Shelter, improve the quality of life for the Shelter’s animals, promote spay and neuter, and facilitate outreach and educational activities about the humane treatment of companion animals throughout Jackson County. Our values are: Service, Compassion and Generosity.
