Friends of the Animals’ sponsors a “2-Fur-1” program for kittens and cats adopted from the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
Friends of the Animals picks up the second adoption fee, and you get two adorable cats or kitties to bring home for the price of one! Of course, all felines are spayed/neutered before adoption. It’s a GREAT deal and your new companions will be happier too!
Why two kittens are better than one
Despite the common belief that cats are solitary animals, they’re actually incredibly social beings who thrive when they have feline friends from an early age. That’s why it is recommend to adopt two kittens, or adopt a solo kitten if you already have another young cat in the home for the kitten to befriend.
It may come as a surprise to hear this, but two kittens are actually half the work of one! Giving your kitten a buddy will improve the lives of the cats while also making your life easier.
Adopting adult cats together
Sometimes adult cats come into the Shelter together – having spent their entire lives with their best buddy. Separating them would be simply unkind. And in our free-roaming cat rooms, sometimes felines see each other across the room, and BAM! … best buddy time! Our volunteers know which cats these are and are happy to help you select just the right pair.
