Category: Pet of The Week

Meet Ella!

AGE: Ella is a loveable 12-year-old tabby whose family moved out of the country and could not take her with them.

PERSONALITY: She was once a mighty huntress, but now, in her retirement years, prefers to be indoors-only, in a calm home where she can spend her days enjoying the loving attention of her people, telling you her story, and snoozing on a sunny bench or in her soft bed.

HIGHLIGHTS: Ella is a gentle kitty who got along with cats and dogs in her former home. Her adoption fee has already been paid by a generous donor, so if you have the right home for big-hearted Ella, she is ready to be your new best friend.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: Ella’s adoption fee has been pre-paid and includes a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Ella is spayed.

Meet Goldie!

AGE: Goldie is looking for a retirement home!  She is a mellow and sweet 10-year-old Boxer girl who enjoys life and “her people.”

PERSONALITY: Goldie’s favorite activities are mellow walks and lounging around the house (hopefully, one level). She is excellent at napping, and showing you appreciation for loving her. She is well-mannered, a little hard of hearing, and heart-warming.

HIGHLIGHTS: Goldie gets along with other calm dogs, but can be a bit protective of “her people,” so a low-traffic home would be best.  The Friends of the Animal Shelter Senior Fund paid for the removal of some benign fatty tumors, and a generous donor has pre-paid her adoption fee.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: There is no adoption fee for Goldie, and you still get a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Goldie is spayed.

Meet Tuiy

AGE: Tuiy is a 1½-year-old, elegant white lady cat with a little charcoal black on her ears and nose, and black lipstick.

PERSONALITY: She was originally found as a stray, living under a building, and once rescued was friendly, talkative and cuddly with her people, but didn’t get along with the resident cat and dog, so her owners surrendered her.

HIGHLIGHTS: At the shelter Tuiy is in a free-roaming room and after slow introductions, hasn’t had any problem with the other cats.  Sometimes she shows a little bit of catitude—but as the queen reigning from the highest perch in Whiskerville, she probably thinks that’s her prerogative.  Are you the new best friend Tuiy has been looking for?

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: Tuiy’s adoption fee only is $50 and includes a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Tuiy is spayed.

Meet Indi!

AGE: Indi is an athletic, active 1-year-old girl looking for a running and snuggle buddy.

PERSONALITY: Indi loves attention (who doesn’t?) and interacts well with gentle, respectful playful dogs.  She is goofy and loves to snuggle … and will climb on your lap, if you give her the chance.

HIGHLIGHTS: Indi is house-trained, rides well in the car, knows her basic commands and loves meeting new people.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: Indi’s adoption fee only is $120 and includes a free one-hour in-home training and a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Indi is spayed.

Meet Cadbury!

AGE: Cadbury is a sleek, brilliant, black, 16-month-old kitty who wants to go home with you.

PERSONALITY: This pretty girl was fostered with her six active black kittens (all spitting images of their mom).  The kittens have been adopted, but Cadbury, who took good care of her bouncing black babies, is still waiting to find a home of her own where someone will take care of her!

HIGHLIGHTS: This gregarious girl loves attention and likes knowing you are around. She is a great combination of a kitty who snuggles and gives head butts and is also curious, independent and happy to do her own thing if you aren’t around.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix.  Open 11am to 4 pm Tuesday throughFriday, and noon to 4pm weekends.

COST: Cadbury’s adoption fee only is $50 and includes a free wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Cadbury is spayed.
