Reduced Fee Dog Adoption Event
Help! The dog kennels at the Jackson County Animal Shelter are full!
During this two-day adoption event, Saturday through Sunday, April 2-3, noon-4pm, adoption fees for dogs 30 pounds and over will be reduced to just $50, a 66% discount from the regular price of $150. No discount for puppies under 6 months, small dogs less than 30 pounds, or cats. No appointments are needed to attend this event. Walk-ins are welcome!
The Animal Shelter is at capacity for housing dogs, due to the combination of a slowdown in adoptions during these last six months and a recent surge in the number of large dogs entering the Shelter as strays. Unfortunately, the decrease in adoptions is a recent trend being experienced by other animals shelters across the country.
If you have been considering adopting a dog, now is the perfect time!
Our goal is to place as many dogs as possible into caring homes to free up space for incoming dogs needing new homes. This will be the Jackson County’s first reduced fee adoption event for dogs. Most of the available dogs are estimated to be less than 3 years old. All have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, received flea treatment, and are up-to-date in shots. A collar and leash are included for each dog.
Adopters will also receive a gift basket from Friends of the Animal Shelter.
During this event, adopting families will go through the same standard adoption process they would if applying at other times, which includes an application and screening requirements. In addition to the $50 adoption fee, adopters who live in Jackson County will also be responsible for paying $25 for an annual dog license.
LOCATION:

This event is made possible by Friends of the Animal Shelter, which will pay the discount for every dog adopted this weekend and provides the volunteers needed to hold this event.
