If you would like to be considered to become a Friends of the Animal Shelter and Jackson County Animal Shelter Foster Family, you need to submit an application.

Directions:

  1. FIRST SAVE THIS FORM TO YOUR DESKTOP. Use the option “SAVE AS” and rename the form using your last name. Complete the form and then save it again.  Open the form before emailing to confirm it saved correctly. Please make sure you fill out both the COUNTY and FOTAS Volunteer Releases.

  2. Send via email (preferred method) to:
    1. Courtney, Foster DOG Coordinator: Email Courtney
    2. Terri, Foster CAT Coordinator: Email Terri 
  3. Or, submit the filled-out application via postal mail, the address is on the application.
  4. Once we receive your application, you will receive a call and/or email from the FOTAS Foster Coordinator.
  5. Please remember that all dogs in your household must have a current rabies vaccination and Jackson County animal license.  For more information about licensing your dog, please visit the Jackson County Animal Services website.

  • Shelter hours:
    9 AM to 4 PM
    Tuesday – Sunday
    Closed on Mondays

  • Adoption hours:
    Tuesday – Thursday: by appointment
    Call (541) 774-6651
    Friday – Sunday: open for adoptions
    noon – 4PM, no appointment needed

Low-Cost Vaccinations

The Jackson County Animal Shelter hosts a vaccination clinic on the 3rd Saturday of each month by appointment only to help pet owners comply with regulations and animal health needs.

Cost: $10 for rabies vaccination, $15 for the distemper vaccinations. CASH ONLY

  • For dogs: Distemper-Parvo combo vaccine (DA2PP)
  • For cats: Distemper-Respiratory combo vaccine (FVRCCP)

MISSION STATEMENT

Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1990 to support the programs of the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Our vision is for all adoptable animals at the Jackson Country Animal Shelter to find a loving home. Our mission is to recruit and train volunteers who will save lives by increasing pet adoptions at the Jackson Country Animal Shelter, improve the quality of life for the Shelter’s animals, promote spay and neuter, and facilitate outreach and educational activities about the humane treatment of companion animals throughout Jackson County. Our values are: Service, Compassion and Generosity.
