DOG OPEN HOUSE! | EVERY Saturday and Sunday afternoon

Visitations with adoptable animals is generally “by appointment only” to minimize the number of people in the Shelter at any given time. This helps protect the Shelter staff, Friends of the Animal Shelter volunteers, and potential adopters – allowing for COVID protocols to be carried out. It also ensures that an Adoption Counselor will be available to show you around and have you meet adoptable animals.

Currently, to visit dogs on the weekend, you can now stop by without an appointment, Noon – 4:00 pm.

Appointments are not required during these hours, but to help control the number of people in the kennels, visitors are asked to check-in at the Front Office upon arrival. Appointments to meet adoptable dogs Tuesday through Friday ARE STILL REQUIRED.

You still need an appointment to visit with cats.

Jackson County is still under COVID restrictions, so the Animal Shelter will continue to embrace social distancing and safety measures, including the requirement that MASKS MUST BE WORN inside the Shelter’s facility.

To make an appointment, first browse adoptable animals online at fotas.org/adopt.  Then call (541) 774-6654 and select Option 7 to be connected with a Shelter staff person.

Kitten Shower 2022

Not only are we getting spring showers, it’s also raining kittens!

Friends of the Animal Shelter foster families currently have 75 kittens in their care, and more are coming in everyday!

Please help us support our little furry darlings by donating to our annual Orphaned Kittens Shower. We have several rather expensive items on our shopping list, including another incubator ($1,200), kitten replacement formula ($300 for a 20 lb. tub of powder), warming discs, and more!

And if you’d like to become a kitten foster family, visit www.fotas.org/foster. We can train you to bottle feed kittens, or you can foster kitties eating from bowls, while they wait for their spay/neuter appointments.
